The idea of a student-run consultancy

We are a organisation that is run by students for students. The idea of a student-run consulting firm is to challenge passionate students beyond their academic curriculum by working on real-life consulting projects. You are enabled to apply your theoretical knowledge from university and gain practical work experience while studying.

The organisation is completely run and managed by students. This gives each and every member the chance to take responsibility for an entire organisation. You develop skills that go beyond your own field of studies through training and the passion shared by other students.

Clients, in return, get creative and innovative ideas and an unbiased approach on every project. You, as a student, bring in fresh air and the diversity among our student body guarantees different approaches on every problem.

Our Why


In addition to the consulting projects, members contribute directly to the inner workings of The Consulting Academy by taking on the day-to-day tasks in one of the six departments. The departments are the engine of The Consulting Academy and a lot of work is done internally to ensure maximum value for clients, partners and members, by extension.

The members of the Corporate Relations department are responsible for fostering contacts and relationships with clients. This involves keeping in touch with current clients and acquiring new projects. Furthermore, partnerships and the network have to be cherished.

The Human Resources department is responsible for the recruitment of new, motivated trainees to become part of The Consulting Academy. Additionally, social events are organised to establish a good work atmosphere.

From increasing awareness of The Consulting Academy at universities to marketing in business environments, Public Relations establishes our presence in the world. It focuses largely on online marketing, but is exploring a more personal component as well.

Quality Management's main appeal is to improve the organisation sustainably in the long term. Thereby quality standards get tested regarding their fulfillment. At that, the importance of knowledge management gets addressed as well.

The legal structure of the organisation and project work as well as the financial planning of the organisation's budget is treated in this department.

When it comes to IT structure; which tools are being used, how we can share technical knowledge in our organisation, and in what ways we have to restructure IT and operational systems in the future, the Operations and IT department is responsible.

Duties of a consultant

As a member you are expected to take initiative and be fully committed to The Consulting Academy. You should at least have 10 hours a week to commit to the Academy’s duties and activities. These include:

As a member you are involved in The Consulting Academy’s internal life and decisions.You also have the chance to work in different fields within the organisation to push The Consulting Academy to the next level. You choose the area you’re most interested in and shape the future of The Consulting Academy! From being a trainee to being a member you can also take the responsibility to lead the board of management.

Another big part of being a member of The Consulting Academy is the fun part! We have informal gatherings and events to actually get to know each other and have a great time – we’re looking forward to you being a part of it! The more time and effort you invest, the more you will benefit!

Recruitment phase

We conduct a recruitment phase at the beginning of every semester where interested students have the opportunity to apply in order to be considered for The Consulting Academy.


After the initial application phase we hold interviews where trainees are selected.

Trainee phase

The interviews are followed by the trainee phase where we conduct basic training sessions and training projects for new trainees.


Once trainees pass the trainee phase they are now both members and consultants. As consultants, members have the opportunity to apply for tendered projects that have been acquired from clients.

We will be all over campus in the days before the application deadline.

Application deadline

The is set during the recruitment phase and marks the last day we consider received applications.


Interviews with selected applicants happen during the week after the application deadline, to find our new trainees.

Start of trainee phase

The trainee phase starts with the first training weekend about one week after the application deadline.
